Dimethylfumarate (DMF)
Dimethyl Fumarate (DMF) has fungicidal properties that can be used as preservatives to prevent mold growth during transportation and storage. Commonly found in furniture, packaging material, textile, and the automotive industry, usually used for leather car seats. Dimethyl fumarate is a severe irritant. In response to these cases, the European Union banned DMF in March 2009 (EU Directive 2009/251/EC).

Method of Analysis
The analysis for DMF is carried out using a GCMS. The GCMS is a sensitive instrument that can detect organic compounds at low levels.
