Flame Retardant Substances
Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are a class of organobromine compounds that are used as fire retardants. This compound has been shown to cause decreased fertility in humans even with low exposure levels. In addition, PBDEs can also be accumulated and amplified in nature, including in the human body, especially for PentaBDE congeners. Due to their toxicity and persistence, this group is declared as Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in the Stockholm Convention.
Both national and international regulations limit the use of PBDEs in textile products. Regulations in Indonesia, from Peraturan Menteri Perdagangan No. 18-2019 and international regulations such as Standard 100 Oeko-Tex®️ regulated pentaBDE substance in textile products is not detected with both regulation limiting a maximum of 5 mg/kg and less than 10 mg/kg respectively
How SIG can help
The SIG laboratory performs analysis of PentaBDE congener compounds on textile products which can assist you in determining the absence of pentaBDE in the textile products you produce in order to meet existing regulatory standards.
Method of Analysis
The GC-MS method we offer you to determine the content of pentaBDE compounds in your textile products.
