Overall Migration
Description
Food contact materials (FCM) are materials that are in direct contact with food ingredients, one of which is plastic food packaging. There is potential for chemical compounds to be transferred from packaging to foodstuffs. This takes into account several factors, such as the materials used, application conditions, and the nature of the food ingredients which are contacted with the packaging. In Indonesia, food packaging (including plastic packaging) is regulated by Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM) in PerBPOM No. 20/2019.
How can SIG help?
SIG laboratory is capable of testing the total migration on plastic packaging following the requirements specified in the BPOM regulation where this total migration parameter is a basic requirement that must be met for most packaging
Method of Analysis
The total migration test was carried out gravimetrically with article filling, total immersion, or cell migration extraction technique using a food simulant as an extractor that conforms to the requirements specified in the regulation.
