PCR-based molecular biology testing is needed as supporting data for authentication tests and labeling of food products. An authentication test is a test based on biomarkers in the form of specific DNA to determine the authenticity/originality of foodstuffs to avoid food adulteration. The results of the authentication test can be used as supporting data for halal food labeling and halal certification – especially for meat products and their derivatives – as well as for the labeling of genetically engineered products – generally for certain plant commodities – where GM food labeling in Indonesia is required by BPOM Regulation No. 6/2018 and halal food labeling in Indonesia is mandatory for the required products as regulated in BPOM Regulation No. 31/2018.
How SIG can help
SIG laboratory performs PCR-based authentication testing to detect genetically modified events in plants and specific DNA speciation in meat products and their derivatives that can help you to comply with applicable national and international regulations.
Genetically Modified Organism (GMO)
- Promoter 35S
- Terminator NOS
- Event GA21 maize
- Event Bt-11 maize
- Event MON 810 maize
- Event NK603 maize
- Event GTS 40-3-2 (Roundup Ready Soya)

Molecular Biology
- Bovine DNA Test
- Porcine DNA Test
- Chicken DNA Test
- Ruminants DNA Test
Method of Analysis
The PCR method is used for qualitative test (end-point or real-time PCR) and also for quantitative test by using qPCR (real-time PCR).
