Polychlorinated dibenzo-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzo-furans (PCDFs) are referred to as dioxins. Dioxins/furans and PCBs are persistent organic compounds that are by-products of natural and industrial processes. Dioxins/furans and PCBs are of high concern because of their highly toxicity to the human body.
How SIG can Help
SIG laboratory has experience with the analysis of dioxins/furans. We offer analysis of dioxins/furans analysis in ambient air and our scope of many different matrices such as food, feed, milk, egg, oil, water, and wastewater with research and own method development with high-resolution analyses. We also provide the test for stack air. Our lab tests for seventeen toxic congeners (seven chlorinated dioxins and ten chlorinated furans) which have been assigned toxic equivalency factors by the World Health Organization (WHO). Our laboratory can also test PCB (dioxin-like PCBs and non-dioxin-like PCBs).
In general dioxins and furan analyses include analyte:
- 2,3,7,8-TCDD
- 2,3,7,8-TCDF
- 1,2,3,7,8-PeCDD
- 1,2,3,7,8-PeCDF
- 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF
- 1,2,3,4,7,8-HxCDD
- 1,2,3,6,7,8-HxCDD
- 1,2,3,7,8,9-HxCDD
- 1,2,3,4,7,8-HxCDF
- 1,2,3,6,7,8-HxCDF
- 1,2,3,7,8,9-HxCDF
- 2,3,4,6,7,8-HxCDF
- 1,2,3,4,6,7,8-HpCDD
- 1,2,3,4,6,7,8-HpCDF
- 1,2,3,4,7,8,9-HpCDF
- OCDD
- OCDF
Where as PCBs analyses include analyte:
- PCB 77
- PCB 81
- PCB 105
- PCB 114
- PCB 118
- PCB 123
- PCB 126
- PCB 156
- PCB 157
- PCB 167
- PCB 169
- PCB 189
- PCB 28
- PCB 52
- PCB 101
- PCB 138
- PCB 153
- PCB 180
Method of Analysis
Our dioxins/furans and PCBs tests are based on official method of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and European Standard (EN) with sensitive instruments i.e. GCMSMS. Our analytical methods are able to achieve detection limits that are compatible with even lower levels of various regulations that exist today. We offer several reporting format options to your requirement. Report formats are available that include the total dioxins and furans and total PCBs. Toxic Equivalents (TEQ) in dioxins/furans and PCBs (dioxin-like PCBs) will also be reported using the Toxic Equivalency Factor (TEF) values by the World Health Organization (WHO).
