Preservatives
The term preservatives refer to the functional name for a wide variety of compounds that help slow or prevent bacterial growth in a wide range of products, one of them is in personal care products. Preservative compounds that are added to products can be sourced from natural or synthetic.
Antimicrobial preservatives in cosmetics and personal care products help prevent the growth of molds, yeasts, and bacteria, guarding against contamination that can cause irritation or infections.
In Indonesia, preservatives that are allowed to exist in cosmetic products and personal care products are regulated in Attachment III of PerBPOM No. 23/2019.
