As part of its efforts to introduce the latest methods for microbiological water testing to laboratory practitioners in Indonesia, SIG joined Prolabios Mitra Analitika and the Center for Public Health Laboratory (BB Labkesmas) Yogyakarta in hosting a webinar titled “Modern Methods from Sample to Result for Legionella, E. coli & Coliform Testing – APHA, ISO, ASTM & MICA Diamidex.” SIG was also invited as a guest speaker to provide technical insights into Legionella and E. coli testing in accordance with international standards.
Through the webinar, Prolabios Mitra Analitika introduced capable of supporting analysis, while BB Labkesmas Yogyakarta presented the Indonesian Ministry of Health’s policies and regulatory framework concerning the quality standards for Legionella, E. coli, and Coliform in environmental and human health settings.
Meanwhile, SIG, an internationally accredited testing laboratory, provided an in-depth discussion of the technical aspects of implementing ISO 11731:2017 for the detection and quantification of Legionella. The discussion covered the sample concentration stage through large-volume filtration, the selection of selective culture media, and the quantification of confirmed colonies.
During the technical session, SIG explored critical parameters in Legionella testing in accordance with ISO 11731:2017. The Q&A session also addressed various field experiences and challenges associated with testing in cooling towers, healthcare facilities, and drinking water industries. These requirements are essential for laboratories and industry stakeholders to ensure the microbiological safety of water systems.
Through this webinar, laboratory practitioners and industry stakeholders are expected to be better equipped to implement more accurate and reliable testing standards, thereby supporting the sustainable monitoring of clean water quality in Indonesia.
