Jakarta, July 21 2026 – SIG participated as a speaker in the Food and Health Plenary Session at the Indonesia Palm Oil Research Week (PERISAI) 2026, organized by the Indonesian Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP). Held on Tuesday, July 21 2026 at Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta, the event served as a platform for disseminating research findings and fostering collaboration among policymakers to support the sustainable development of the palm oil industry.
During the session, Rianita Arminingrum, Research and Development Supervisor at SIG, delivered a presentation titled “Examining the Safety and Quality of Palm Oil Products as Food from a Laboratory Perspective.” As a testing laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by the Indonesian National Accreditation Committee (KAN), SIG shared insights into the importance of laboratory testing in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of palm oil-derived food products. Together with experts from government agencies, academia, and research institutions, including Dra. Dwiana Andayani, Apt., Director of Processed Food Standardization, Deputy for Processed Food Supervision; Prof. Dr. Ratu Ayu Dewi Sartika, M.Sc. from Universitas Indonesia (UI); Prof. Dr. Eko Hari Purnomo, S.TP., M.Sc. from IPB University; and Dr. Ir. Siti Nurdjanah, M.Sc. from the University of Lampung (UNILA), SIG contributed to a comprehensive discussion on the utilization of palm oil bioactives, covering regulatory frameworks, scientific research, food innovation, and laboratory testing.
SIG emphasized the strategic role of laboratory testing in ensuring that palm oil products comply with food safety standards through the analysis of chemical and microbiological parameters, contaminant residues, and compliance with both national and international regulations. SIG also showcased its laboratory capabilities in detecting contaminants such as Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons (MOSH), Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAH), Glycidyl Esters (GE), 3-Monochloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD), and dioxins, which are among the key trade barriers faced by domestic exporters seeking access to international markets.
SIG’s participation also reflected the company’s commitment to supporting the development and utilization of safe, high-quality, and value-added palm oil products that contribute to public health. PERISAI 2026 featured seven plenary sessions covering key topics across the palm oil value chain, including bioenergy, cultivation, biomaterials, post-harvest technologies, food and health, environmental management, socio-economics, management, and information and communication technology (ICT).
The forum brought together more than 30 speakers from government institutions, academia, research organizations, industry, and international organizations to share research findings and innovations in support of a sustainable palm oil ecosystem. Through its participation in PERISAI 2026, SIG hopes to enhance industry stakeholders’ understanding of the importance of laboratory testing as an integral part of the quality assurance system for palm oil-based products. By strengthening collaboration among researchers, industry players, and testing laboratories, Indonesia’s palm oil sector is expected to continue developing sustainable innovations, meet food safety standards, and create greater value for both society and the industry.
