Retinoic Acid

Retinoids are widely used in different cosmetic products because of general improvement of skin appearance. However, retinoid concentration in cosmetics is restricted, and one particular form–retinoic acid, is banned in cosmetics due to safety reasons. Retinoic acid, in combination with sunlight, may increase skin cancer risk.
In cosmetics, retinoic acid is used as skin conditioners and anti-acne agents in a variety of moisturizers, lotions, and anti-aging creams.
In Indonesia, according to Peraturan Kepala Badan POM RI No. 2 2014, retinoic acid is included in the list of hazardous substances prohibited for use in the manufacture of cosmetics
How SIG can help
SIG Laboratory can perform retinoic acid analysis on a wide variety of cosmetics. Our tests also ascertain whether the retinoic acid is not contained in your cosmetics product, as specified by national and international regulations.
Method of Analysis
The HPLC method we offer as a test method in determining the content of retinoic acid in cosmetic products with a UV-Vis detector as the detection.
