SIG once again demonstrated its active involvement in international forums by attending the Waters ASEAN Food Summit 2024, a global platform uniting governments, industries, and academia to foster strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing food quality and safety across ASEAN.
Held on December 11–12, 2024, in multiple venues across Singapore, including the Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, National University of Singapore, and Waters Pacific Science Park, the forum adopted the overarching theme: “Strategic Partnership Between Government, Industry, and Academia for Food Quality and Safety Excellence in ASEAN.” This summit served as a platform for discussions and collaborations to address global challenges concerning food safety and quality.

SIG’s Commitment to Food Sustainability
With ASEAN’s population growth reaching 679.69 million people (Source: asean2023.id), challenges to food safety and quality continue to escalate. Renowned for its high commitment and credibility in laboratory testing and food technology innovations, SIG participated in this forum to reinforce its role in supporting access to safe and high-quality food for ASEAN communities.
At the summit, SIG was represented by Lab Manager, Ms. Siti Maritsa Aurora, whose participation highlighted SIG’s dedication to advancing sustainability-driven technology.

SIG engaged in several critical discussions focusing on cutting-edge food testing technologies, including:
- Keynote Speakers:
- Dr. Xinping Hou, President of AOAC Southeast Asia: With extensive experience in technical consulting and developing analytical service strategies for industries, Dr. Hou plays an active role in establishing food analysis standards in Southeast Asia.
- Dr. Yuyun Lu, Lecturer at the National University of Singapore: Specializing in analytical chemistry and food testing technology, Dr. Lu has made significant contributions to food safety research and innovations in contaminant analysis methods.
- Technical Presentations:
HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography): Ensuring accuracy in food labeling. LC-MS/MS (Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry): Detecting food contaminants. Other technologies that support sustainability and food quality in the ASEAN region.
The event also provided SIG with the opportunity to join tours of advanced analytical laboratories at the National University of Singapore dan Waters Pacific, expanding their insights into the latest applications of food testing technologies.
In addition to technical sessions and lab tours, the forum offered strategic opportunities to forge new partnerships during networking sessions held over lunch and dinner at exclusive venues in Singapore. SIG hopes this participation will open doors to collaborations with key stakeholders across government, industry, and academia.
