Jakarta, January 15, 2025 – SIG has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the growth of Indonesia’s medical device industry by participating as a sponsor in the National Conference (Munas) of the Indonesian Medical Device Manufacturers Association (ASPAKI) 2025. The conference, held at the Bidakara Hotel in Jakarta, served as an important moment to strengthen synergy between the government, the industry, and other stakeholders in promoting national medical device independence.
The event was opened by ASPAKI Chairperson for 2021-2024, Imam Subagyo, and inaugurated by the Chairman of the National Economic Council, General (HOR) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, MPA. Also in attendance were the Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industries (Ilmate) of the Ministry of Industry, Dr. Setia Diarta, MT., and the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Dra. Lucia Rizka Andalusia, Apt., M.Pharm., MARS. The conference was attended by over 160 medical device manufacturers under ASPAKI, which represents 225 domestic medical device companies.
ASPAKI’s Commitment and Enhancing Competitiveness of National Medical Devices
In his speech, Imam Subagyo expressed hopes that the medical device industry would grow by 8% in 2025, aligning with the government’s optimism for national economic prospects. “We are fully committed to supporting this growth through collaboration with various parties, including associations, educational institutions, and research bodies. Additionally, we are focusing on introducing domestic medical devices to the global market,” said Imam.
The 3rd ASPAKI National Conference also marked the organization’s 27th anniversary in August 2025. ASPAKI’s achievements in promoting local products at international forums have demonstrated that Indonesian medical devices are highly competitive. The conference agenda included management reports, discussions on current issues such as e-catalog version 6 and Local Content Requirements (TKDN), as well as the election of the ASPAKI Chairperson for the 2025-2027 term.
The Chairman of the National Economic Council, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, emphasized the importance of supporting domestic medical devices to reduce dependence on imports. “Indonesia has raw materials such as nickel and stainless steel. We no longer need to import simple devices from abroad. Let’s innovate and focus on improving the quality of local products,” Luhut stressed.
Additionally, Luhut highlighted the importance of the quality of domestic products as a prerequisite for supporting exports, particularly to potential markets like Africa. “Africa is highly interested in our technology, which, although not overly sophisticated, fits their needs. This is a great opportunity,” he added.
