Pesticides are substances that are used to control pests. The term pesticide includes herbicide, insecticide, nematicide, molluscicide, piscicide, rodenticide, bactericide, insect repellent, animal repellent, antimicrobial, and fungicide. Residual pesticide on agriculture products is generally caused by improper use of pesticide or cross-contamination from pesticide-contaminated environments (e.g. from soil and water), and also in the form of impurities/contamination of pesticide derivatives, metabolites. Therefore, the residue of pesticide determination is required in standard quality requirements including, but not limited to, agricultural products and water.
How can SIG help
SIG Laboratory performs residual pesticide analysis on a wide variety of matrices for various pesticide groups, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
The types of pesticides residue that can be tested in the SIG laboratory are:
Group of Pesticides:
- Organophosphate
- Organochlorine
- Carbamate
- Pyrethroid
- Triazole
- Organotin
- Polar Pesticides
- More Pesticides
Fumigants Pesticides:
- Sulfuryl Fluoride
- Ethylene Oxide
- 2-Chloroethanol
Method of Analysis
LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS methods were used in quantitative analysis of pesticide residues. Not limited to that, we also used the LC-MS qTOF for qualitative analysis (non-targeted analysis) and became the first laboratory in ASEAN to successfully implement the Programmed Temperature Vaporizer with Cryogenic System method (Cold Injection) on Headspace GC-MS system.
