Vehicles are one of the chief sources of heavy metal pollution in the environment via processes like the exhaust of diesel and petrol, corrosion of metallic parts, engine wear, tyre and brake pad wear. Heavy metals can accumulate in organisms, plants, or animals (including humans) through inhalation. Some heavy metals can be toxic at a low level of exposure and cause carcinogenicity in humans.
